Family is a 4 Letter Word
Seven months ago, before Governor Scott issued the “Stay Home, Stay Safe” order, we were already making moves to ramp up our already robust safety policies and practices.
Like everyone else, we were hoping this whole coronavirus thing would be behind us in a few weeks – or at least quickly enough that we wouldn’t actually have time to get used to the “new normal”.
But we also understand, and understood then, how viruses work.
They don’t tend to care about the hopes or dreams of their human hosts. They just spread, hopping from one to the other with alarming efficiency.
And so, as the numbers continued to spike, and more and more countries went into lockdown, we made the only decision there was to make, to do whatever we could to keep our family and extended family – our staff, vendors, and visitors – safe.
To that end we immediately implemented a new environmental health and safety plan that, on top of regular sanitization of hands, work and public spaces, mask-wearing, mindful social distancing in our stores and a curbside pickup option, also includes a form that all employees fill out every morning, verifying that they:
- have no symptoms of COVID-19
- have not knowingly been in contact with anyone who does
- have not traveled out of the specified safety zone.
We are committed to maintaining this level of precaution even after the pandemic is finally behind us. (After all, even though there are vaccines for the flu, and it is usually less contagious than the current coronavirus, it can be even more deadly to those who happen to catch it.)
We’ve all learned a lot this year about what it means to take care of each other and keep one another safe.
We will remember…
…and act accordingly in all our affairs – whether family, or business, or both.
For all that you’ve done and continue to do to keep the extended family safe, THANK YOU.
