And Joins in Supporting Research to Cure Cancer!

Jeffersonville, Vermont – It all started in 2010 with their award-winning Vodka. Within 9 months of the release, this corn and winter wheat vodka won a Double Gold medal in the World Spirits Competition and was awarded 95 points by the Wine Enthusiast, which earned it the title of #1 domestic vodka. Now, with the upcoming release of their Gluten Free Organic Vodka, Smugglers’ Notch Distillery, co-owned by the father/son duo of Ron and Jeremy Elliott, is achieving an ambition to support treatments for cancer in an ongoing way, bottle by bottle.

“First and foremost, the drive for creating this product was to join the fight to eradicate something that has touched nearly every one of us in some way: cancer.” states Ron Elliott, chairman and co-owner. “Having a portion of each bottle sale go to help fund breakthrough cancer research worldwide was, and continues to be, our driving factor for creating this new spirit.”

The decision to make the commitment to create a certified gluten free organic spirit was not entered into lightly. Obtaining organic certification as well as creating and processing a gluten free product can be overwhelming. Although the distilling process technically removes the gluten from spirits made with wheat or other grains containing gluten, new equipment was purchased solely to produce this new spirit ensuring no cross contamination from any of their other spirits.

“Smugglers’ Notch Distillery is committed to bringing our customers superb, high quality spirits.” says Jeremy Elliott, president and co-owner. “Based on Current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) and obtaining both local (Vermont Organic Farmers) and national (USDA) organic certification, we have made a significant investment and commitment to creating an exceptional gluten free, organic product for our customers. From purchasing all new equipment for product production to obtaining approval of label design is a huge undertaking for a small distillery like ours.”
